Day 1: Your day begins with an early morning motor coach departure for Boston where we connect to Amtrak for our journey to Washington DC. On arrival in DC you will be transferred to the hotel and begin your sightseeing. Dinner included
Day 2: Your tour of our nations capital begins with a visit to Ford’s Theater where Lincoln was shot. Your next stop will be the WW11 Memorial. This impressive monument is dedicated to those who served in World War II, and is sure to move you. We continue on be the FDR Memorial, located along the tidal basin. When the cherry blossoms are out this is a magnificent view and brings to life the beliefs of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This afternoon we will visit Arlington National Cemetery and take a narrated tram ride through the cemetery. On your tour you will visit the gravesites of JFK and RFK, see the Memorial to the Challenger Explorers, the tomb of the unknown soldiers, and witness the changing of the guard. Our last stop of the afternoon will be the National Archives where you can view our countries most important documents. Tonight dinner will be included. Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 3: We depart the hotel at 8:00am to be at Mount Vernon when it opens. We will tour the home of George and Martha Washington, visit the gravesites, and see the farm that George Washington was so proud of. On our return from Mt. Vernon we will visit the Marine Memorial ant the famous Iwo Jima flag raising sculpture. Later in the day we will return to the Washington Mall where you will be free to explore the buildings of the Smithsonian. Perhaps you will enjoy the Air and Space Museum, the Museum or American History, The Museum of Natural History, the Holocaust Museum or the many other Smithsonian buildings lining the Mall. Tonight we will feature dinner in Georgetown followed by our evening illumination tour. On the tour you will see the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial as well as the Whitehouse and Capital illuminated. Breakfast and Dinner Day 4: We will tour the National Cathedral for those staying longer you will be transferred to the Capital Visitors center where you will have an included tour of the Capital. After your tour of the Capital you are only a few blocks away from Union Station a perfect place for a little shopping and lunch. After lunch it is the perfect time to visit the National Archives and see the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Please remember any federal building that you go through will require you to go through security. ( If there are 10 or more we will provide a shuttle to the hotel. If less then 10 it is a five to 10-minute cab ride and will cost about $7. From the National Archives it is a 15-minute walk to the hotel. Breakfast and Dinner. Day 5: This morning you will start the day with a visit to the capital. At lunch time we will be close to the Potomac Seafood market where the fish is off loaded and sold direct to restaurants and individuals. The vendors will cook the food to order. (On the weekends plan to wait in line for food cooked to order.) In the afternoon you will return to the hotel and be transferred with your luggage to the train station for return trip Breakfast ** Please note that if you wish to visit the Whitehouse you must contact your Congressional office. You must apply in advance for these tickets because of security.
