A visit to a working Vermont horse farm and horse training facility. Our day begins as we travel to the Historic Putney Inn in Putney Vermont. You will be served a hot gourmet lunch featuring local produce. After lunch we will visit the Vermont Frisian Horse farm for a tour and show. During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe. Through the Early Middle Ages and High Middle Ages. their size enabled them to carry a knight in armor. Though the breed nearly became extinct on more than one occasion, the modern day Friesian horse is growing in numbers and popularity, used both in harness and under saddle. The day includes a tour of the facilities, meeting the horses and foals, and then sitting down to the performance in which several of the horses, many of them champions, will perform either under saddle, in carriage/cart or at liberty. The entire show with the tour lasts about two hours. If you like horses the precision dressage of these animals are amazing.
