Photograph the first sunrise in the country from the top of Cadillac Mountain. Capture the iconic Bass Harbor Lighthouse, one of the most photogenic lighthouses in the country, as its perch of granite cliffs illuminate pink with the dawn sun. Shooting locations include Asticou Garden, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Somesville Bridge and Cemetery, Pretty Marsh, Otter Cove, Otter Cliff & Eagle Lake.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
The exposure triangle: Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO, and how they work together to create the correct exposure.      
 
 Camera modes:  When to use one of the semi-manual modes (Av or Tv), and when to take full control with Manual mode.  

How to use your camera’s meter.  When to trust your camera, and when to make a creative decision to take control of the exposure by applying exposure compensation.

  How to use your histogram to determine your optimal exposure.
 
 In-camera composition: learning to frame your photographs to avoid cropping later on.  
 
 Optimizing camera settings in order to produce the highest quality images possible

  Different lighting types - direct, diffused, shade, cloudy, golden hour, blue hour

 The importance of proper white balance

  Aperture control for effective use of depth-of-field.  

 The Hyperfocal Focusing method for guaranteeing infinite depth of field for
landscape photography under any lighting situation - even darkness!


Using white balance for accurate color or creative accentuation of color tone.
 
 Photographing in low light using long exposures to bring out “hidden” color in your scenes.

  How to use filters to control light, or intentionally lengthen exposure times for artistic effect

 How to read light and use it to your advantage:  Different types of light create different “looks” in your photograph.  

  Basic editing of RAW image files

  Using Photoshop layers and masks
