DAY 1: Today we depart for Bar Harbor Maine . (departures from RI, Boston, Southern NH) Overnight Bar Harbor. Dinner included.
DAY 2: Today enjoy the spectacular beauty of Acadia National Park before continuing on to St. John New Brunswick. Experience the fantastic views from the top of Cadillac Mountain, the eastern most point in the continental US. See the magnificent coastal scenery of the park. This afternoon we will cross the boarder and overnight in St. John New Brunswick. Breakfast included
Day 3: We will depart by Ferry from St. John to Digby arriving close to noon. After a stop for lunch we will travel to Port Royal which features a reconstruction of the Habitation, where, in 1605, Samuel de Champlain helped establish one of the earliest European attempts at settlement in North America. Costumed interpreters will help you understand the challenges faced by the French as they carved out a new settlement. Let your imagination soar as you walk the shore of the Annapolis Basin, and gaze at the same horizon Champlain would have seen. As it was for him, it is a new horizon. Then it is on to Grand Pre National Park to learn the story of how the British deported the Acadian people to the lower colonies. This is where Longfellow’s story of Evangeline takes place. Our next two nights will be in the Halifax area. Breakfast & Dinner included
DAY 4: This morning after breakfast we will tour Halifax. We will see such sights as The Citadel, one of Canada’s most historic sites, the Old Clock Tower, the waterfront, and the Museum of the Atlantic. This afternoon enjoy some free time shopping, take a leisurely stroll through the gardens, visit the farmer’s market and enjoy the city. Later we will travel to Peggy’s Cove where hopefully, you will enjoy a beautiful sunset along the rocky shore. For those who prefer to enjoy the spa arrangements will be made to have dinner at the hotel and spa treatments. Breakfast & Dinner included
DAY 5: We start our day with a journey to Bedec. This afternoon we will have the opportunity to visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, with it’s extensive exhibits on aviation, marine engineering and medical science. Here we’ll learn of Mr. Bell’s many inventions other then the telephone.. Tonight we will overnight in the Bedec area. Breakfast & Dinner Included
DAY 6: Our Journey takes us across the spectacular Cabot Trail, where we are able to view the dramatic scenery below. We encourage everyone to bring a camera to take pictures of the colorful villages and coastal scenery. We will make frequent stops so that you may walk on the cliffs. Tonight we will overnight in New Glasgow. Breakfast and Dinner included.
DAY 7: After breakfast, we travel a short distance to Pictou where we take the ferry to Prince Edward Island. Once on the island it is only a short ride to Charlottetown, the island’s capital. As we travel to Charlottetown we cannot help notice the miles and miles of rich fertile potato fields. Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Day 8: Today we will explore Prince Edward Island and its coastline. We will stop to hear Acadian Music, sea beaches We will see Green Gables, where Lucy Maude Montgomery grew up and inspired her to write “Anne of Green Gables”. We will see the famous beaches of Cavendish National Park, the Gardens of Malpeque, and the scenic fishing villages along the coast. Tonight we will go to the Confederation Center for the Arts for a night of theater. When the Confederation Center for the Arts is closed there will be no substitute. Breakfast and Dinner Included.
DAY 9: Today we cross back to New Brunswick.where our first stop will be Le Pays de la Sagouine – Bouctouche. The island where Acadians celebrate, created from international renowned Acadian novelist, playwright and author, Antonine Maillet, who invented the characters that live in this authentic Acadian village. Enter the fictional world of la Sagouine and leave with a true appreciation of the Acadian joie de vivre (joy of life)! A costumed interpreteur will guide you through the village. Today we have a fantastic lunch for you featuring the food of Acadia. In the afternoon we will visit The Olivier Soapery Canada’s Soap Economuseum® In the heart of the Acadian coast, only minutes from Irving Eco-Centre, La Dune de Bouctouche, you are invited to walk through the doors to learn the history, evolution and the authentic techniques in the art of soap crafting. Discover the Olivier Soap Art Gallery featuring works of local artist in this family country soap shop. Olivier Soapery has earned a fine reputation not only for the high quality of the products, but also as an authentic “experiential” tourist attraction. You’ll want to visit the Soap Boutique which offers over 140 ecological, biodegradable, entirely natural and homeopathic products. Late this afternoon we will continue on to St John where we will overnight. Breakfast and Lunch Included.
DAY 10: This morning we begin our journey back to the United States. Our first stop will be the International Peace Park at Campobello Island. You will find why FDR loved this island. The Roosevelt homestead will give you insight in to who this man was and why he became such a great leader. Tonight we will overnight in the Best Western Bangor. Breakfast & Dinner Included.
Day 11: We return to New England in the early evening, return flights are available out of Portland, Manchester or Boston. Breakfast included.
